According to Sky Sports, Chelsea is expected to begin contract negotiations with Antonio Rudiger this summer.
Rudiger was totally frozen out under Frank Lampard and seemed to be on his way out of Stamford Bridge. His revival under Thomas Tuchel, on the other hand, has been quite impressive.
The German center-back has made the left center-back role his own, with his commanding defending and strong ball-carrying making him currently unstoppable.
According to Sky Sports, his deal is set to expire in the summer of 2022, which means he could start negotiating with clubs as a free agent as early as January of next year.
Chelsea, on the other hand, appear determined not to let things get that far, with Sky Sports' Kaveh Solhekol reporting that the club will hold negotiations with the defender over a contract extension this summer.
It is thought that his future at the club could be dependent on Thomas Tuchel, and with all of the good work he has done since joining, it is difficult to see him leaving anytime soon.
