Billions of pounds have been spent on bolstering Premier League squads, with the likes of Arsenal, Manchester United and Chelsea spending handsomely in 2022-23. But which of this season's seasons new signings earn the most?
You'll be no doubt shocked to six that the top earners that moved this season all play for the traditional 'big six', with half of the top 10 highest-paid new signings turning out for Chelsea.
We've taken a look through the figures on Capology and put together this top 10 in order of their weekly wages.
10. Marc Cucurella – £175k
For £175k a week and a £62million transfer fee, Chelsea have acquired one of the flops of the season; seeing Cucurella's name on the teamsheet produces groans from the Stamford Bridge regulars.
Although not helped by Chelsea's chaotic season, the full-back is likely to lose his starting place when Graham Potter realises he's got Ben Chilwell at his disposal.
Cucurella isn't a complete write-off yet, but he needs to show massive improvement in the coming months.
=8. Enzo Fernandez – £180k
Chelsea paid a British record fee of £106million to sign Fernandez in January, but the World Cup winner has produced enough moments of class in his opening games to suggest he is still a sound investment.
=8. Manuel Akanji – £180k
Akanji was one of Manchester City's lowest-key signings for years, despite the eye-watering weekly wage, but the Switzerland international has proven to be a canny acquisition.
Intelligent and tactically disciplined, Akanji has quickly become one of Pep Guardiola's favourites and has made 16 league appearances for the reigning Premier League champions.
=6. Wesley Fofana – £200k
Chelsea paid Leicester City £70million for Fofana last summer, befitting his status as one of Europe's best young defenders, but he's been out of action since picking up an injury against AC Milan in October.
The free-spending Blues have bought Benoit Badashille in the intervening period, meaning the 22-year-old faces a fight to regain his place in Potter's starting XI.
=6. Antony – £200k
Ask a hundred Manchester United fans about their impressions of Antony and you'll get 100 different replies; the Brazil international has had his moments, but has yet to demonstrate the consistency you'd expect of an £82 million signing.
Still, Erik ten Hag clearly trusts Antony and a future blossoming wouldn't come as a huge surprise.
5. Gabriel Jesus – £265k
Jesus' move to Arsenal was one of those transfers that made sense on many levels; a quality player looking for a more central role and an improving club that needed more proven winners.
Yet it's been widely overlooked that Jesus reportedly saw his wages almost triple by switching from the Etihad to the Emirates, meaning the Brazil international is netting a cool £265k per week.
The Gunners will be hoping Jesus returns from injury to spearhead their title challenge.
4. Kalidou Koulibaly – £295k
Koulibaly is the second highest-paid defender in the Premier League – behind Raphael Varane – but often plays like his shoelaces are tied together.
The Chelsea man is now a regular bench warmer, which doesn't reflect well on both the player and the club that are paying him £295k each week to do so.
3. Casemiro – £300k
Casemiro may be pocketing a cool £300k per week, but the love he's inspired from Manchester United fans with his excellent performances is priceless.
2. Raheem Sterling – £325k
Sterling is one of the most high-profile footballers in England, so it was little surprise that Chelsea offered a £325k wage to tempt him from Manchester City last summer.
It's not gone to plan since; the England international has struggled for form and was linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge in January.
1. Erling Haaland – £375k
Haaland isn't quite the highest earner at City – Kevin de Bruyne takes home £400k per week – but the striker was still offered a hefty wedge to move to the Etihad last summer.
Thirty-one goals in 29 appearances later, Haaland has underlined his status as football's biggest goal nerd. God help us when Guardiola figures out how to use him properly…
