'On This Day Two Years Ago Trent Alexander-Arnold's Quick Corner Becomes Legend

"Corner taken quickly... ORIGIIIIIII" four words that will go down in Liverpool's long and glorious history and no doubt bring goosebumps to fans of the club on the second anniversary of a famous Champions League night at Anfield.

Liverpool went into their semi final second leg against Barcelona with a 3-0 deficit to overturn. Jurgen Klopp's team hadn't even played badly at the Nou Camp but were it not for Ousmane Dembele's late miss they would, and should, have been 4-0 down.

Klopp had to make do without Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino for the second leg, with the Egyptian rocking up to the game wearing a t-shirt with the message 'never give up,' in a style similar to WWE superstar John Cena.

The fans at Anfield that night didn't need telling and they were in typical loud voice from the start, even before kick off giving the Barca players a warm welcome as they arrived.

Voices inside Anfield were raised after just seven minutes when Divock Origi, starting in place of Firmino, fired home following Jordan Henderson's shot.

Alisson had to make some saves but Liverpool generally had the better of the game but couldn't stretch their lead on the night before half-time and were struck with a blow as Andy Robertson was replaced at the break.

The left back's injury led to Georginio Wijnaldum coming on to play in midfield and James Milner dropping back into defence, it was a forced change but it ended up being a decisive one.

In the 54th minute the Dutch midfielder burst into the box and got on the end of Trent Alexander-Arnold's cross to make it 2-0 on the night and it truly was game on.

It took Wijnaldum just two minutes to make another huge contribution, this time getting on the end of Xherdan Shaqiri's cross to make it 3-3 on aggregate and leaving Barcelona looking completely at sea.

Alisson made a big save from Lionel Messi on 68 minutes but with 11 minutes to go Alexander-Arndold's incredible quick thinking, and quick action, sealed the game for the hosts.

The ball went out for a corner and whilst Marc-Andre ter Stegen organised his defence the ball boy quickly placed a new ball on the corner quadrant.

Liverpool's full back was about to walk away to allow Milner to take the set piece but suddenly realised the ref had blown his whistle, Alexander-Arnold quickly turned and took the corner, finding Origi and the rest is history...
